Tim Sopin

Tim Sopin is a Founding Staff Mobile Developer at Reactiv, the mobile commerce platform for Shopify brands. As Reactiv's founding mobile engineer, he built the core mobile platform, including the shared React Native architecture used across merchant apps and ClipKit, its proprietary Swift framework for App Clip experiences.

Before Reactiv, Tim worked at Shopify twice: first as an iOS intern on the Point of Sale team, and later as a mobile developer helping build Polaris for Retail, the design system used by Shopify POS and its third-party UI extensions. Between those roles, he was the sole mobile engineer at Runner, a Toronto delivery and retail startup, where he built and operated a seven-product platform spanning consumer and courier apps, partner tools, and native point-of-sale and inventory systems.

He writes about mobile commerce engineering, with a focus on architecture, performance, and building native-quality apps at platform scale. Tim is based in British Columbia, Canada.
