A 9-figure brand. A million quilters. No app worth opening.

Al Doan founded Missouri Star Quilt Company in 2008, building it around his mom’s dream. What started as a family passion project is now a 9-figure quilting brand with hundreds of employees and several retail stores.

Today MSQC reaches millions of quilters across their social channels — over 1 million on YouTube alone.

MSQC’s customers were ready for an app. The website couldn’t deliver the focused, personal experience a loyal community deserves.

MSQC launched on Reactiv. The numbers landed fast: 50,000 users in the first two weeks. About 10% of total company revenue. No push notifications. No promotion. Customers found the app on their own.

A 200,000-user app that went dark overnight.

This wasn’t MSQC’s first attempt at launching a mobile app. Their previous provider pulled up to 200,000 daily users — then failed. No app, no support, hundreds of thousands of customers left without an answer.

Why not a drag-and-drop editor?

How often customers come back.

MSQC’s “Bundle” feature lets customers hold an order for seven days, adding items as they go to qualify for free shipping and consolidate shipments. Paired with the Daily Deal, the result is a shopping flow built around quick, repeat purchases.

LEVER 02 · LOYALTY

How much they trust you when they’re there.

A customer who downloads your app is a logged-in customer — and a logged-in customer is one you can actually personalise for. MSQC uses push notifications for moments worth interrupting for: early access drops, exclusive deals, restock alerts.
